Accessibility statement

This is a translation for your convenience. Only the German version is legally binding: Erklärung zur Barrierefreiheit.

This statement applies to the website polismedia.de, including appointment booking on the Contact page. I want you to be able to read and use all content without obstacles, including with a keyboard, a screen reader or magnification.

Legal framework

polisMEDIA is a microenterprise within the meaning of § 2 no. 17 of the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG, the German Accessibility Strengthening Act). Under § 3(3) BFSG, the accessibility requirements of the act do not apply to microenterprises that offer or provide services. I publish this statement voluntarily. The benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.

Compliance status

The website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1, level AA. The content that is not yet accessible is listed below.

How it was checked

This statement reflects the status as of October 27, 2026. I carried out the checks myself, without an external testing body, in two ways:

  • automatically with the testing tool axe-core 4.10 (rules for WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2, levels A and AA, plus the recommended rules),
  • by hand: operation by keyboard only, visible focus, color contrast, text alternatives, labels of form fields, language settings of the pages, videos, behavior with the system setting “reduce motion” and display on a phone 390 pixels wide.

The following German pages were checked: the home page, the pages KI-Werkzeuge (AI tools), Content und Medien (content and media), Über mich (about me), Kontakt (contact) with appointment booking, Häufige Fragen (FAQ), the Werkstatt (workbench) overview, two workbench pages (KI-Schnittplatz and Treffpunkt), the profile page /aboutme/ and this statement.

On October 27, 2026, a complete automated check followed: all 27 German pages and their 27 English counterparts under /en/ (home page, AI tools, content and media, the workbench with all 17 tool pages, about me, FAQ, contact, legal notice, privacy policy and this statement), each at widths of 390, 768 and 1280 pixels, 162 test runs in total. Result: no page scrolls sideways, there are no script errors, and axe reports no violations except for the order of heading levels in the legal notice and the privacy policy (see below). The English pages were also reviewed by hand for operation, layout and language.

English version

Since October 27, 2026, the pages of polismedia.de have also been available in English at polismedia.de/en/. Blog posts are published in German only. The English pages are marked up as English-language pages. The DE | EN switch is in the header of every page and leads to the corresponding page in the other language. The English pages are included in the check of October 27, 2026.

What already works well

  • All pages are marked up in their language: the German pages as German, the English pages under /en/ as English. This way, screen readers read them out correctly.
  • All checked images have a text alternative or are marked as purely decorative.
  • Links, buttons, tabs, expandable questions, the cookie window, appointment booking and the assistant Wilma can be reached with the keyboard and show a visible focus.
  • If you have set “reduce motion” on your device, you see the pages without animations. Videos then do not start on their own.
  • The videos on the workbench pages and the AI tools page have no sound, play only while they are visible and can be paused with a button. The animated process diagrams also have a pause button.
  • The demo show only loads from YouTube after a click.
  • On a phone, every checked page fits the screen width without shifting sideways.

What was improved on October 26, 2026

  • The animated process diagrams on the workbench pages and the AI tools page: each step is now a button you can reach with the keyboard. Screen readers only read the explanation once you pause the diagram or select a step, instead of interrupting every three seconds. The list of steps is structured correctly for screen readers.
  • Small labels on the home page (categories of the project cards, “For your business”, the “Demo” label) are shown in a stronger color (contrast of at least 4.5 to 1).
  • The search field on the FAQ page shows more clearly when it has keyboard focus.
  • Pulsing status dots stand still with “reduce motion”.
  • Cookie window: the links are shown in dark gold instead of light gold (previously 2.0 to 1). The “cookie policy” link was empty and now leads to the cookies section of the privacy policy.
  • Appointment booking: the descriptions of the appointments and the links to the privacy policy and legal notice in the booking window are shown in a stronger color (previously 3.2 to 3.5 to 1). All buttons show a visible keyboard focus.
  • Wilma: the status line and notices in the conversation window are stronger (previously 3.3 to 1). If you open and close the conversation with the keyboard, the focus stays in the right place. Wilma is an AI assistant. You can talk or write to her; her answers also appear as text.
  • Profile page /aboutme/: the links to the credentials (Open Badges) are shown in a darker gold (previously 4.2 to 1).

What was improved on October 27, 2026

  • Flip cards in the toolbox: the side of a card that is currently hidden is blocked for keyboard and screen readers until you turn the card over.
  • Chapter labels on dark backgrounds are now a lighter gold (previously 2.5 to 1).
  • The “Skip to content” link now sits in the page header.
  • Headings follow each other without skipping a level, including in the footer and in this statement.
  • The dots below the project carousel and the links in the footer have a target area of at least 24 pixels.
  • Appointment booking: on phones, the calendar shows all seven weekdays in full.
  • Long headings are hyphenated on phones instead of running over the edge.

What is not yet accessible

  • Videos: the demo show on YouTube (in German) has no captions created by me. The silent videos on the workbench pages have a short description for screen readers.
  • Headings in the legal notice and the privacy policy: there, the page title is followed directly by a third-level heading. Both texts are currently being revised.
  • Not checked: the individual blog posts and the linked demos. The workbench pages were checked automatically and on screenshots, not all of them by hand with a keyboard. Further barriers may exist there.
